BedVoyage rayon from bamboo fibers are made using organically grown bamboo and the raw materials are selected from non-polluted areas in Asia. BedVoyage linens are made in China from our certified textile plant that has passed the Social Responsibility Audit, as well as been certified by many of the top retailers.
Bamboo fibers are naturally hypo-allergenic, thermal regulating, moisture wicking, odor resistant and mildew resistant. As soft as silk, yet highly breathable, bamboo fiber is three to four times more absorbent than cotton due to its unparalleled micro-structure. This allows the sleeper to stay more dry and comfortable than they would with any other natural fabric. BedVoyage bamboo linens are thermal regulating as their insulating properties keep you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, so why wouldn’t you want to sleep on such a wonderful fabric!
BedVoyage rayon from bamboo fibers are made by first sourcing our raw materials from non-polluted areas in Asia, and with a farm that grows the bamboo organically. Using an eco-friendly ‘closed-loop’ process, the bamboo is transformed from stalk to chips, mashed into a pulp, processed into fiber, spun into yarn then woven into fabric. The solvent used to process the bamboo stalk into fibers is continually recycled during the production process, so production factory emissions are significantly lower in comparison to other man-made fibers.
Bamboo fiber is praised as ‘the natural, green and eco-friendly textile material of the 21st century…”
Bamboo, one of the earth’s most sustainable resources, is also one of the fastest growing plants. Most bamboo can grow up to 3 feet a day and reaches heights of up to 90 feet.
Bamboo plays a critical role in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide as it releases 35% more oxygen, and takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gases as an equivalent stand of timber trees.
During harvesting, the stalks are cut, not pulled by the root, making this plant a soil conservation tool, along with allowing the bamboo to re-grow to be harvested again and again. Furthermore, the growing of bamboo requires no pesticides or fertilizer, making bamboo linens an amazingly friendly resource, unlike the growing of cotton which requires 25% of the world’s insecticides, 7 out of 10 of which are the most toxic chemicals on earth. It takes 1/3rd pound of chemicals to produce just one pound of cotton (essentially one t-shirt), this causes an enormous toll on the earth’s air, water, and soil and impacts the health of people working in the cotton growing regions.
